Remembering Harrison County Sheriff’s Deputy Glenn Everett Roe
The community is still mourning after the loss of Harrison County Sheriff’s Deputy Glenn Roe. Glenn passed away Saturday after being hospitalized for injuries sustained in a three vehicle crash that also injured his wife.
“I’m gonna miss him. I’m sure going to miss him.” At the Elks Lodge in Biloxi you’ll find the ‘Thin Blue Line’ American flag flying high and hearts weighing heavy after the death of Glenn Roe. Friend Mark Jenkins said, “I’m devastated, but devastation is not even the proper word to describe how I feel. I mean I have a huge loss and a hole in my heart because he is gone.”
Glenn Roe was an active member of the Elks Lodge and the local Blue Knights of Mississippi Motorcycle Club. He spent countless hours riding his Harley Davidson with the people who called him a brother. Friend and D’Iberville Police Officer Sterling Blackham said, “It was an experience, something I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life, but he will forever be missed but rest in peace my brother.”
Besides being an active member of the community, Glenn was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. Friend Patrick Davis said, “He would give you the shirt off of his back, he would do anything for anyone, anyone in need, anytime they needed something, you just had to call.”
Standing at 6’6”, those closest to Glenn tell News 25 that it was hard to miss him or his contagious laughter. “He would look at me and he would just kind of smile and laugh and say “Godzilla” that was Glenn’s big key phrase, “Godzilla,” I mean I think the loss of Glenn is really going to be felt throughout this community.”
His friends say they take comfort in the fact that Glenn died doing what he loved: riding his motorcycle. “I think on this Earth, we are all here for an unknown amount of time. If you die doing something you love doing then you can’t ask for much more than that.”
