Remembering Deputy Michael Jimerson
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy was laid to rest Friday afternoon.
Hundreds of people gathered at First Baptist Church to pay their respects to Deputy Michael Jimerson, who was killed in the line of duty.
The 61-year-old Vancleave native was honored Friday during a funeral service held at First Baptist Church in Biloxi where family, friends, and fellow law enforcement officers filled the pews to say their final goodbyes.
Visitation began earlier in the day, giving the community a chance to pay their respects, share stories, and remember a man many described as selfless, compassionate, and always willing to serve.
Law enforcement agencies from across South Mississippi and beyond stood side-by-side, a powerful show of unity for one of their own.
A final radio call marked the end of watch for Deputy Jimerson, his badge number called out one last time, followed by silence.
Outside the church, a procession of patrol cars and motorcycles stretched for miles, escorting the fallen deputy to his final resting place.
Deputy Jimerson was killed in the line of duty while responding to a call, a sacrifice his fellow deputies say will never be forgotten.
Friends and family say his legacy goes far beyond the badge, as a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather, and a man who dedicated his life to protecting others.
As the community continues to mourn, they also honor a life of service, courage, and commitment.
