Remains found in Jackson County in 2016 identified

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department has announced the identity of human remains initially found in 2016 in Moss Point.

Through the help of a private donor, the state crime lab, and Othram, Inc. in Texas, the person has been identified as Aaron McGraw, who was born in 1961 and reported missing in 2015.

McGraw’s skeletal remains were found in a wooded area near East Street in Moss Point and through genealogical research, Othram identified a possible relative, which was later confirmed following a DNA comparison.

Officials say McGraw had a history of sleeping in the woods and no foul play is suspected in his death.
