Relativity Space announces expansion of test facilities at Stennis
A company at Stennis Space Center announced plans today for a major expansion of its rocket and engine test facilities.
Relativity Space plans to build new facilities in the Stennis Test Complex for its Aeon R engine tests. The company said when completed, the Stennis test site will be one of the largest in the nation.
The Mississippi Development Authority is assisting Relativity Space with the project. Stennis will provide site services as part of the partnership agreement.
Relativity Space already has broken ground on the project with construction of new engine test stands, office buildings and a vehicle facility.
The Aeon engines are powered by liquid natural gas. Relativity Space already has conducted hundreds of hot fire tests at Stennis for their development.
