Rehabilitated Eagle Released Back Into the Wild
The young female bald eagle was discovered a year ago in D’Iberville with a broken wing and leg. There was zero chance of the eagle surviving, that is until the Wildlife Care and Rescue Center stepped in, fixing the broken bones and putting the eagle through a year of rehab. President and founder of the organization, Allison Sharp, says an approved cage is required for the rehab of large birds. This caused the eagle’s journey to be even longer than normal.
Sharp says, "The center over in Florida has that so we took her over there where she can learn to build up her flight muscles and stretch all of those tendons and prepare her for her release. So we picked her up today from there and hopefully we are going to have a really good release."
After a few tense minutes of circling near the ground, the eagle did in fact take off into the sky.
