Reggie Bush retiring from NFL
When the Saints were in rebuild mode during the post-Katrina days, they held the number 2 overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. The Houston Texans selected Mario Williams at number 1 and Reggie Bush practically fell into their lap.
That was a franchise changing moment for the Black and Gold who rose to the top of the NFL food chain in his fourth year as Super Bowl 44 champions.
After 11 seasons in the league, Bush officially announced his retirement on Friday, ending his career with more than 9,000 yards from scrimmage and 58 total touchdowns, including punts.
After Sunday’s game, Head Coach Sean Payton had nothing but love for a guy that helped bring life back to the Superdome. “Proud of him, had a really good career. Was really instrumental in what we did winning and having the success we had. And you’re proud of him, he was our first draft pick. So, I think he’ll do well on TV.”
Bush also played for the Dolphins, Lions, 49ers, and Bills during the back half of his career. He took his last snap for Buffalo in 2016.
