Redfish Elite Tournament

Professional anglers look to reel in big time prizes for the Eastern Division Redfish Elite Tournament in South Mississippi.
The fishermen lined up along the marina in D’Iberville early this morning to start their day out in the Gulf. Mayor Rusty Quave cast the first line to kick off the tournament. The winner walks away with a new Skeeter SX-22-50 boat plus a cash prize.
Mayor Quave tells News 25 this tournament helps put the city of D’Iberville and the Mississippi Gulf Coast on the map. “It’s about a $150,000 impact from advertisement because it’s on the Pursuit Channel this year. It was on Destination America last year. We go out and it’s going to be a prime time broadcast at 10 o’clock in October.”
Weigh-ins for the tournament were at the Scarlet Pearl Casino this afternoon. The anglers head back out in the water tomorrow morning at 6.
