Red Rebelette signs with Bishop State
The Harrison Central Softball program concluding it’s fall signing period with its third of three ceremonies this month.
Rounding out the bunch is senior standout Jayla Ladner who’s letting the ink dry with Bishop State Community College in Mobile.
Ladner can play both corner infield spots but lives her best life in the circle as the ace pitcher for the Red Rebelettes — armed with a fastball, rise ball, screw ball and change-up.
Ladner says she’s been playing softball ever since she was five years old and that her faith led her to this next chapter with the Wildcats.
Fellow teammate Mckenna Bryant says the same about her decision to sign with Southeast Baptist College in Laurel last week.
“Well, I’m just so thankful that God has given me the ability to play this sport as long as I have and to continue playing this sport, I’m just so grateful for that,” said Jayla Ladner. “Pitching has had my heart ever since I was about 10 years old, so that’s where my heart lies is in that circle.”
“It was really nice. It was like home. It’s no bigger than Harrison Central. It’s so nice, and I really like the girls and they’re really sweet and it just felt like home,” said Mckenna Bryant, Southeast Baptist College signee. “I’ve been dreaming of this literally since I was a kid, and it just means a lot to me and I’m so excited.”
After her senior season, Ladner says she’s excited to bring the winning culture from Harrison Central over to her new home with Bishop State.
