Red Cross urges people to prepare for Hurricane Season
As hurricane season inches closer, American Red Cross is urging people to be prepared.
An emergency kit is a prepared bag that is easily accessible. Inside of it should be anything you and your family may need for at least 72 hours.
American Red Cross suggest people add flashlights and a radio with batteries as well as hygiene and health necessities.
This includes a first-aid kit, medications, and any documents you may need in case of an emergency. American Red Cross of Southeast Mississippi Executive Director John McFarland said, “Now’s the time to plan, so that should we get bad weather, should you have to leave, should a tornado come your way or whatever – you’re not panicking. You know exactly what to do. You grab your bag and go.”
You can find a list of what to include in your emergency kit or just buy one at redcross.org.
