Red Cross Shelter Update

As of 3 pm the Red Cross is consolidating the two open shelters into one at 15038 County Farm Road.

With the weather and street flooding clearing, the shelter population has dropped.  The County Farm Road shelter will remain open as long as necessary.

Meanwhile bulk distribution of supplies like water, tarps, clean-up kits, etc. continues, primarily in the Orange Grove area around O’Neal, Dedeaux and Three Rivers roads.

Those needing bulk supplies have either asked for them at the shelters or called the Red Cross office (228-896-4511) and we are responding to those requests.

Tomorrow the Red Cross will follow-up with client casework for those needing additional assistance.

Meanwhile we will watch for possible river flooding and, if requested by county emergency management, will open additional shelters if needed.
