Red Cross partners with the Ansley Foundation to hold blood drive

Red Cross partnered with the Ansley Foundation today to host the third Ansley Gilich Blood Drive.

The blood drive is held in honor of eight-year-old Ansley Gilich who was diagnosed with B-Cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia last year.

Gilich’s family decided to start the drives during their time spent in the hospital last year when they noticed how many people were in need of blood.

The team expects to see around 150 people come in today to donate. American Red Cross Senior Account Manager Denise Smith said, “Knowing we’re able to touch even just one life a day is an amazing feeling and so with the work that American Red Cross does, it’s pretty amazing.”

Ansley’s mother Michelle Gilich said, “People are wanting to help right now with the pandemic and even with the delta variant being so bad right now. They just want to do something to help.”

Red Cross is hoping to hold the next Ansley Gilich blood drive some time in January.
