Reception held for Mississippi Sheriffs’ Association Summer Conference in Biloxi

The Mississippi Sheriffs' Association is holding their Summer Conference here on the coast, day #2 ended with a reception at Point Cadet Plaza.

Sheriffs from all over the Magnolia state are here on the coast this week for the 2024 Mississippi Sheriffs’ Association Summer Conference.

The conference is set up to offer classes, resources, and cover legislative updates to enhance public safety and law enforcement here in the Magnolia State.

“Some of the things that will be happening, we’ll learn about legislative updates, things that have changed in the legislature that may affect us. It gives those of us that are newly elected the chance to ask questions that we may not have the answers to. We have a lot of experience and a lot of sheriffs that have been sheriffs for numerous years. Today has given us a chance to gain some knowledge from those sheriffs.”

The conference also allows vendors to sell the latest law enforcement technology, uniforms, and more. It also brings in several guest speakers while holding events throughout the week.

“Every day is filled with different speakers and things that are going on. We have someone to come in that’s gonna talk to us about human trafficking and things that may have changed in that. I know Sean Tindell is gonna come in, he has a slot and will talk to us. There’s a multitude of speakers.”

To cap of day #2 of the conference, a reception was held at Point Cadet Plaza in Biloxi.

“Biloxi is gracious enough, Biloxi PD, to cook crawfish and shrimp for all of us. It gives us a chance to just relax, kick back, and socialize with one another.”

The conference started on Monday and runs through the rest of the week until Friday, June 7th.
