Recapping Super Bowl LI

Unless you’re a Falcons fan, the first three quarters of last night’s Super Bowl were generally unexciting, uninspiring, and undeniably below average, but then came the fourth quarter to save the day, providing several of the best of moments from Super Bowl 51.
With 18 minutes left to go, the New England Patriots were trailing the Atlanta Falcons by 25 points. Of course, it’s never smart to bet against Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, but if there was ever a time to do so it would have been last night when the score was 28-3.
Chalk it up, yet another boring game to cap off a rather pedestrian NFL playoffs. Or was it?
First it was James White, then Danny Amendola. And then finally, Julian Edelman with one of the five best catches in Super Bowl history.
Another two catches from White and his was all of a sudden the best individual scoring performance in Super Bowl history. Not to mention the Pats had just completed the best comeback of all time. Or was it the best choke?
Either way it was the best Super Bowl over time ever played because it was the only one ever played. Then came the best revenge: Tom Brady receiving his fourth Super Bowl MVP from the same man he received his four game suspension from. Roger Godell can’t deflate that silver ball, a trophy that now belongs to the best quarterback in NFL history. The same goes for Belichick, now the best coach in the history of the league.
Throw in the best Super Bowl commercial from 2017. Plus what some are calling the Super Bowl’s best halftime performance ever. Well, it’s still not the best Super Bowl of all time, but it’s certainly not the worse either.
New England’s six point win is the largest margin of victory or defeat in any of the seven Super Bowls played during the Brady-Belichick era.
