Rebuild Moss Point Fund to help with unmet needs

A long-term recovery fund has been established to help with the unmet needs in the recovery of Moss Point.

An announcement was made in Moss Point about the rebuild Moss Point Fund, a 501 C3 that is being administered through the United Way.

The fund is set up at Merchants and Marine Bank.

Jackson County Chamber CEO Paige Roberts said the fund will help in the ‘casework phase’ of recovery. She said more than 400 homes have some level of impact and these funds will help meet the needs not met through insurance, state, and federal agencies.

Local industries and banks already have contributed to the fund and Roberts said this is “the very best way at this point for people to help.”

She said the initial needs for food, clothing, cleaning supplies, have been met. The rebuild fund will help in the next phase of recovery.
