“Read Across America Day”

Ohhhh the places you’ll go….with the power of reading!
On Thursday, that’s what community members knew our young coast students were needing.

Thursday is “Reading Across America Day” as well as dr. Seuss’ birthday.
To celebrate, the junior auxiliary of Gulfport wanted to show young coast students the way.
Whether it was through green eggs and ham or one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish…
Community members read to Gaston Point students showing them the way by doing just this!
It was the first year the auxiliary read to students at the school…
They made sure to let them know by reading…that’s how you look so cool!
“We has such a good time. Every child in there was excited. Everyone was just so interested in their reader, and the book and the activities that we did. What I want them to take away is the importance of reading. Just what reading can do for their future and just the importance of reading.”
– Paula Gamboa Junior Auxiliary Of Gulfport/Floor Co

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

The junior auxiliary also gave away free books for the students to take home.
