Qualifying begins for municipal elections in Waveland

WAVELAND, Miss. (WXXV)- Qualifying for Waveland’s municipal elections opened Tuesday morning.

The city holds its municipal elections in a different election cycle than other cities in South Mississippi.

The qualifying deadline is Friday, August 7. Primaries will be held on October 6 and the general election is scheduled for December 8.

Of note, incumbent Mayor Jay Trapani filed paperwork Tuesday to run for a second term leading the city.
