Pusharatas for Possums Fundraiser benefits Wild at Heart Rescue

Many locals around the St. Martin area donated money to support the Wild at Heart Rescue by purchasing delicious pusharatas.

The fifth annual holiday Pusharatas for Possums, sponsored by the Seymour Law Firm and the Demoran Group at Keller Williams, took place at the St. Martin Community Center.

Pusharatas are a Slovakian fried dessert dipped in almond glaze with apples, oranges, pecans, and bourbon mixed into one.

All funds received were donation-based to help out the rescue group to protect and preserve injured and endangered animals.

They also featured Santa and Mrs. Claus and the Grinch, who was not on his best behavior, but still found a way to give everyone a joyous time.

Tina Seymour Demoran, sponsor of the event, had this to share as most of the funds will go to baby formula for the young rescued baby animals. “They rescue thousands of baby animals each year. They run on a tight budget so this gives us a chance to help them buy baby formula and supplies for the wild animals through next year. Last year, we raised enough through June this year. We’re hoping to get raised enough for the whole year of baby formula.”
