Push up challenge raises money for MS Special Olympics
Jackson County sheriff’s deputies broke a sweat doing pushups for a good cause.
Each year, Jackson County deputies challenge themselves to raise money for the Mississippi Special Olympics.
Last Friday, donations were collected at Rock N’ Nutrition in Pascagoula, raising a total of $301 towards the cause.
Nine deputies gathered at the Jackson County Jail to split the push-ups, each doing between 25 and 35 until they reached the goal. Jackson County Sheriff Captain Randy Muffley said, “These athletes they compete at no cost to them. So, every dollar we raise assists them in their competitions, their games. So, I’ve been participating with Special Olympics with the Torch Run since 2010. Every year we sell shirts and try to come up with new fundraising ideas. So, this was one that crossed my mind.”
Deputies officially call out Biloxi Police Department to raise money and tackle the push up challenge.
