Public Input On School Funding

Today, state lawmakers are set to hear from residents as they work to examine Mississippi’s School Funding Formula. The legislature is working with non-profit “Ed-build” to look at Mississippi’s Adequate Education Program. The firm is set to make recommendations as to how the formula could be re-worked to best serve Mississippi students. Ed-build will conduct a series of public meetings to discuss ways school funding can target needs for special education, career technology, gifted students, and low income students. This afternoons public meeting in Jackson is the first. The rest have not yet been set. In the meantime you still have time to send your suggestions and ideas to school finance at email schoolfinance@ls.ms.gov for write-in comments.
