Public art expanding throughout Downtown Gulfport
A pop of color is coming to Downtown Gulfport.
The Gulfport Main Street Association has been working with local artists to expand art outside of Fishbone Alley.
Downtown will now have seasonal window art installations and possibly permanent murals. The Main Street Association says the public art brings in visitors while also brightening up the area for locals.
Brie Mayfield painted the View the Cruise mural. She tells us the effect public art has on a city. “It’s a much happier feeling going through and being able to see everybody’s art and what they’ve created. Some people come just for a mural. They come, take a picture in front of it, throw up a hashtag, and that’s their souvenir.”
You can see Mayfield’s most recent art on 14th and 29th and Fishbone Alley.
