Property Taxes Mailed Out

Some Jackson County residents may receive an unwelcome holiday gift in their mailboxes soon. It’s property tax time.
An estimated 60,000 statements for all Jackson County property owners are being sent out starting tomorrow. Taxes can be paid online, through the mail, or in person. Payments are no longer taken over the phone. Payments made before December 31st this year could be deducted from 2015 income taxes. The deadline to pay with no fines or penalties is February 1st.
Jackson County Tax Collector Joe Tucker said, “When I took office, I bumped it up to where we try to get it out by December 1st. It gives the taxpayer time to adjust to the big payment and to get the payments in here by December 31st. It helps them with the income taxes.”
