Property Owner Wants to Chop Down Live Oak Trees

A Gulfport property owner is seeking the city’s permission to cut down several live oak trees.
Property owner Dennis Barber wants to cut down five live oak trees from his lot on the corner of 28th Street and Pass Road to make space for more parking. Barber tells News 25 the additional parking would help him sell the property formerly known as the Gulf Regional Planning Commission Office.
The planning commission denied Barber’s requesting, pointing out that there is already additional parking in the back of the facility.
The Gulfport City Council is set to discuss Barber’s request during tomorrow’s city council meeting.
