Project underway to expand development in D’Iberville

A major roadway has been undergoing construction to help expand development in D’Iberville.

The project is the third of five phases that’s being made to tie in Popps Ferry Road from D’Iberville Boulevard — widening the road all the way to Biloxi city limits.

The master plan started years ago and still has three to four years left until it’s complete.

Once the road opens, City Manager Bobby Weaver tells News 25 it will create more attraction for businesses and investors to come to the city due to an increase of traffic.

“I think this will be a tremendous benefit for one because it will eliminate the reconfiguration, you have to make a left turn and a right turn, now you’re just going to continue straight on through,” Weaver said. “You got access here to the corridor — D’Iberville Boulevard (and) Galleria Parkway, so it will make entering the roadway much safer.”

Weaver said he appreciates the patience from drivers as this project continues.
