Project to improve railroad crossings in Long Beach

Work begins next week to improve nine Long Beach railroad crossings.

City leaders tell us the $3.3 million project has been nearly five years in the making and will end major problems caused by 18 wheelers repeatedly getting stuck on the tracks.

According to Long Beach Mayor George Bass, the goal is to improve approaches to railroads, especially inclines and declines leading to and from crossings.

The first round of improvements is set to begin Monday, March 3rd at the Nicholson Crossing. Work there is expected to last approximately 29 days. For a full list of closures, click here.
