Professional golfer Davis Riley reflects on growing up in Hattiesburg while aiming to win his second Zurich Classic

Some of the world’s best golfers are currently in New Orleans competing for the 2025 Zurich Classic. One pro knows exactly what it takes to bring home this title and he’s from just up the road in Hattiesburg Mississippi. Davis Riley spoke on what the Hub City means to him and what his goals are for this tournament.

“Obviously born and raised there, so that was a big part of my golf career. Playing out at Canebrake Country Club was really big for me. I had a great group of buddies I played with and helped form me into who I am today,” said Riley. “I know it’s super special that I’m playing close to Hattiesburg. It will be really cool, and I’m sure I’ll have buddies and family out to make for a really fun week.”

Davis Riley has been a professional golfer since 2019 and joined the PGA Tour in 2022. Since then, he’s achieved two career wins, one of those being right here at the Zurich Classic in 2023.

“It’s nice to come back to a place where you can draw on some memories of past success and yeah, me and Nick are looking for another win, so that would be getting us on the list to get contention, getting to be one of the last couple groups on Sunday and having a chance to win again,” said Riley.

Now that day two of the tournament is over, his chances are looking pretty good! Davis and his partner Nick Hardy shot -11 Friday, making the cut on Saturday. We’ll continue to provide coverage of Davis and the 2025 Zurich Classic throughout the weekend. Best of luck to team Riley and Hardy!
