Primary election reminders
If you’re hitting the polls tomorrow for primary elections there are a few things you need to remember.
Polling places will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m., but as long as you’re in line by 7 p.m. you can still cast a ballot. Voters are required to bring a photo ID to the polls. If you don’t, you’ll have to cast an affidavit ballot and bring your ID by May 9th for it to count.
Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann just wants to remind registered voters to hit the polls. “Unfortunately we’re seeing a minimal amount of people in absentee votes here. I believe it’s like 64 or something absentee votes in one of the cities. It’s very, very small and we’re concerned that people don’t realize that these individuals are your police protection, fire protection, who keeps the roads well done. They’re leaders in our community. They set the stage for where our community goes. So, we want to encourage everybody to go vote.”
If you’re not sure where to go there’s a polling place locator available on the secretary of state’s website at www.sos.ms.gov/pollingplace.
