Previewing Hoops Fest

It’s safe to say Biloxi High School basketball knows a thing or two about Hoops Fest. The Indians have been a mainstay at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum during Seber Windham’s tenure, a trend that is set to continue this weekend.
6A Biloxi will once again be featured in the marquee game at 7 p.m. this time versus a heavy favorite to win the 4A crown in the form of Bay High.
Now this is nothing new for the Indians who have played either in the last or second to last game of Hoops Fest all 13 years of Windham’s run at Biloxi.
Seeing as the coliseum is within the Biloxi city limits, Saturday’s showdown is pretty much a glorified home game. Coach Seber said, “For me, it’s a game, but for my kids it’s very exciting because what it is, is you get a chance to play in front of everybody’s student body. Gulfport’s student body is there, Harrison Central’s student body is there and teams are there, their fans are there, George County’s fans will be there, St. Martin, so all the student body and everybody’s crowd will be in one location to watch you play. And of course when you’re playing in front of the whole Gulf Coast, you want to present a pretty good case that you’re one of the better teams. And it just happens that usually year in and year out we’re playing a really, really good team.”
All in all there will be seven games played on Saturday followed by a slam dunk contest and three point shootout.
