‘Pretty Boy Floyd’ escapes prison
The search continues today for a murderer on the run last seen in Jackson County Thursday. Forty-eight year-old Michael ‘Pretty Boy Floyd’ Wilson was serving two life sentences when he escaped from prison.
Michael Floyd Wilson, also known as Pretty Boy Floyd, escaped from the South Mississippi Correctional Institution in Leakesville, Mississippi. D’Iberville police are aggressively searching to find him with word that he could be headed that way. D’iberville PD Captain Shannon Nobles said, “Right now there are investigators assigned to this working with the U.S. Marshals and right now as we speak we’re tracking down leads and trying to figure out if anything is connected to the City of D’Iberville.”
However, Captain Nobles tells News 25 as of right now there is nothing directly connecting him to the City of D’Iberville. Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell says they also have numerous unmarked vehicles out actively looking for Wilson. “If somebody sees him, if he sees a patrol car, chances are he’s gonna take off so we’ve got some unmarked vehicles out there you wouldn’t think are police vehicles.”
Floyd is no stranger to local law enforcement. He was sentenced to two life sentences on two murder charges back in 2014 when the crime scene quickly turned into a high speed chase. Floyd was ultimately captured in Ocean Springs found hiding under an abandoned porch.
Now, officials say he looks different than his original mugshot. His hair is longer and curly, but may be easily recognized by an injury on his arm. Wilson is 5’10, 150 pounds with hazel eyes. “We have some information that he had a cut on his arm. I don’t know which arm. He did have his arm wrapped with a bloody t-shirt. So he does have an injury, possibly from climbing that fence in prison.”
Police officials say Wilson hitchhiked his way here where he was last seen at a Chevron Gas Station on Highway 57 and I-10. Scott Hardaman with Kelsey Family Housing said, “We got reports that he was in the area. I was on my way to our sister property, Sandhill Landing, and we just sent out an email to all of our residents saying they need to be safe. If they see anybody out of the ordinary please call 911.”
Sheriff Ezell said, “Anytime somebody escapes prison, especially somebody who has committed a murder, they’re dangerous. That is something we’re pursuing hot and heavy as much as we can.”
In the meantime, officials advise the public to keep their eyes open and to call them if they see anything suspicious.
