President and vice president visiting Biloxi tonight
President Trump heads to Mississippi today to rally for a senator who is facing some controversy ahead of Tuesday’s runoff.
President Trump and Cindy Hyde-Smith are set to appear together in Tupelo at 5 p.m. then they head to Biloxi for a rally at the coliseum at 8 p.m.
If Hyde-Smith wins, republican control of the Senate will be increased. Her democratic challenger, Mike Espy, is hot on her heels.
Hyde-Smith’s recent campaign has been embroiled in controversy, the latest coming in an article by the Jackson Free Press. It says the senator attended a segregated private school and she sent her daughter to a similar school.
Her campaign says the report is an attempt to destroy her personally instead of focusing on the issues.
Hyde-Smith has also come under fire in the past, accused of joking that she’d go to a public hanging.
