President of Croatia visits the Mississippi Gulf Coast

It’s not every day that Biloxi gets to host a foreign head of state.

Biloxi leaders hosted the president of Croatia for an official visit right here on the Gulf Coast.

President Zoran Milanovic met with Mayor Gilich at city hall this morning followed by lunch at Mary Mahoney’s. The president finished his visit to Biloxi with a ceremony at the Slovenian Lodge where other members of Biloxi’s Croatian community were able to meet him.

Mayor Gilich says this was a historic event. “I think our community is strong. We have strong roots with our Croatian community. This is a historic event, no question.”

President Milanovic is also traveling to Louisiana for the grand opening of a Slovenian Lodge.
