President Biden speaks at briefing after shooting at rally for former President Trump
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (AP) — President Joe Biden says ‘everybody must condemn’ attack at Trump rally, hopes to speak to former President Donald J. Trump after he was injured in a shooting at a rally in Pennsylvania.
“There’s no place in America for this type of violence,” said Biden, who is running against Trump as the presumptive Democratic nominee, said in remarks. “It’s sick. It’s sick.”
Biden said he was relieved that Trump is reportedly “doing well.” He pledged to update the public either later Saturday on whether they speak, as well as additional details about the investigation.
Biden says he is waiting for additional information before formally calling the attack an attempted assassination on the former president.
“I have an opinion, but I don’t have any facts,” he told reporters, pledging to provide updates as he learns more.
