Pregnant Woman Injured in Gulfport Car Crash

A pregnant mother was rushed to the hospital after the SUV she was driving flipped on Highway 49 around 11 this morning.
According to police, a Jeep Liberty was traveling north on Highway 49 when the driver pulled in front of an 18-wheeler in the left lane. The truck hit the jeep on the driver’s side, flipping it into the center median.
The driver of the 18 wheeler escaped with no injuries. Three passengers of the Jeep, including two children, sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the Jeep, the pregnant mother, was taken to Garden Park Medical Center by ambulance. Mechelle Davis is the mother and grandmother of the passengers in the Jeep. She said, “I don’t know who was in the right or in the wrong, but she’s bruised up real badly and messed up. The oldest girl, she’s not hurt that bad just her back and her face and my son, he’s messed up his back.”
There is no word yet on the driver’s condition or the condition of her unborn child.
