Preacher Convicted of Sexual Battery

According to District Attorney Joel Smith, a former Stone County preacher will face charges after a jury found him guilty of sexual battery of a child today.
Testimony against 55-year-old Carlos Smith of Saucier revealed that he and the victim were related and that he began molesting her in 2011. The victim first disclosed the abuse to a therapist, who took to the witness stand and provided expert testimony for twelve jurors. The victim also testified that Smith would take her to church and molest her.
Smith will be sentenced on February 15th.
