PRCC’s Seth Smith named MACCC South Coach of the Year

Just four months after taking over as head coach of the Pearl River Community College football team, Seth Smith found himself learning on the job in the midst of a global pandemic.

Almost three years to the day later, Smith is the recipient of a job well done.

Today, Smith was named the MACCC South Division Coach of the Year for leading his program to its first winning season since 2017 and it’s first six-win season since 2010.

PRCC’s overall record of 6-3 is a four-win improvement from the year before, just narrowly missing out on a trip to the playoffs when Mississippi Gulf Coast upset Jones on the final day of the season.

Smith really leaving his foot print on the defensive side of the ball in which the Wildcats rank first in points allowed per game and third in yards allowed per game.
