PRCC home run king Hollis Porter commits to the University of Maryland
The college baseball season recently wrapped up, and one PRCC Wildcat is taking the jump to the next level.
Hollis Porter is officially heading to the Big Ten. After a season that saw 21 doubles, a near .400 batting average, and a program-record 20 home runs, Porter recently made the announcement on social media that he will be heading to the University of Maryland to be a Terrapin. Not only were the hitting stats absurd this season, but Porter was also named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges (MACCC) conference Player of the Year and a first-team All-American by the NJCAA.
Sports 25 had the chance to speak with Porter following his announcement and he spoke on representing Hurley, East Central high school, and PRCC at the next level by saying, “It’s a big deal, I mean, I’ve done it since I was four-years-old. So getting out here, doing good, and showing Hurley what I can do is a big deal. I am ready to get up there and go to work. It’s a good feeling, I mean, all of the hard work going into it, it finally gets to show up.”
Hollis told Sports 25 that he will report to Maryland n Aug. 25 and officially begin his Big Ten career. Best of luck at the next level!
