PRCC baseball’s Tate Parker named NJCAA Division II Player of the Year

Another day, another national player of the year award for Pearl River center fielder Tate Parker.

Parker was already tabbed by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings and now by the NJCAA.

The Southern Miss commit out of West Harrison broke PRCC’s all-time home run record with 37 long balls en route to leading the Wildcats to their first-ever Division II World Series crown.

This season, Parker led Pearl River in runs, hits, triples, homers, RBI, average, on-base percentage, slugging, and OPS.

Parker threw out the first pitch at tonight’s Biloxi Shuckers game, giving him some time to reflect on a banner career in Poplarville. Parker said, “All these accolades are good but I can’t do nothing but just thank God for every single one of them. And just any success that I have, it’s all because of the hard work that I put in with the coaches and the organization, and again, just thank God for the talent and where he put me in life.”

PRCC Head Baseball Coach Michael Avalon was named 2022 ABCA and ATEC Regional Coach of the Year for the NJCAA Division II Gulf Region.
