Prayer vigil for student injured in George County road collapse

George County High School came together to pray for senior Layla Jamison this evening as she remains in critical condition, undergoing multiple surgeries and fighting for her life.

On the GCHS campus, prayers, tears, and strength for Layla, her family and others involved in the road collapse on Highway 26 brought the George County community together.

Many student who didn’t know Layla personally came to show their support by coming to the community prayer vigil.

Principal Sid Taylor spoke to the community reminding them the community will come back stronger. George County Principal Sid Taylor said, “One of our seniors was involved in that accident and she’s in very critical condition at USA in Mobile. She’s had some surgeries and has several more to come. We’re just trusting and hoping and praying, she’s going to pull through this. Our students actually organized this and parents to get together tonight and have prayer for her and the other families that was involved.”

Layla Jamison is in critical condition at USA Medical Center in Mobile.
