UPDATE: No charges in phone call about shooting at a Gulfport school
UPDATE: Gulfport police says no charges will be made in call about shooting at North Gulfport Middle School. They say it was not malicious and the students heard slamming doors.
Initially Gulfport Police received a phone call today about a report of an intruder on campus at North Gulfport Middle School at 4715 Illinois Ave, Gulfport, MS 39501. Through further investigation, they determined there was no intruder. While still investing, they received another phone call at approximately 12:35 about shots fired at the school.
Police arrived on scene, cleared the school, and set the school on lockdown for an hour. Through further investigation, they determined it was a either prank phone call or miscommunication.
Gulfport police have detained a couple students. Sources say they heard about the threat on Wednesday. The investigation is ongoing. We will continue to update you as more information becomes available.
