Praise Temple Biloxi damaged after two cars crash into building

Praise Temple Biloxi, a church on Division Street, was heavily damaged Friday when two vehicles went through the building because of a crash.

While attending the funeral service for community leader Carmelita Scott, Pastor Pickett received a phone call that brought him to tears.

Firefighters told Pastor Pickett and his wife that the building is so structurally damaged that it will probably be condemned.

Walking through the church, the accident left behind car debris, broken glass, and structural building remnants.

A knocked down powerline also leaves the building with no electricity. Pastor Pickett said, “I immediately started crying, right there on the front row. It was a little heart breaking. We’re just going to sit back. We’re going to take about a month to focus and process this and we’re going to talk to our board of directors, we’re going to talk to our parishioners, and then we’re going to see where God leads us.”

No one was injured in the accident.
