Powerball jackpot grows to $675M
There were no jackpot winners after Saturday night’s Powerball drawing.
As the wait for a winner goes on, the jackpot has grown to $675 million, the 10th largest in history. The next drawing is tonight and the cash option will be an estimated $340.9 million.
On Saturday, one Powerball ticket sold in Saucier won $100,000. One local business is benefiting from the rising Powerball jackpot.
Samantha Belsome is the comptroller at Stop N Geaux Gas Station in Lyman. She says the staff is seeing new faces buying tickets as the jackpot grows. “When the news gets out that the lottery has increased, people do start coming out and buying a lot more tickets. We see a huge influx of people coming in the store every day. We like seeing the people come in, especially different people that don’t normally come in the store. They’ll get gas at the pumps but when the lottery, does like you say increases, they’ll come in and we get to see their faces and not just at the pumps.”
The jackpot was last hit on April 19th and that prize was worth $252.6 million dollars. You can catch tonight’s drawing right here on WXXV.
