POW/MIA seat unveiled at MGM Park
There is now a black seat at MGM Park which will remain permanently unoccupied in recognition of those who have not returned home from serving their country.
The seat is marked by a plaque recognizing the sacrifice of those soldiers who are considered missing in action or prisoners of war.
There have been nearly 100,000 Americans serving in the military that have gone unaccounted for since World War I. 602 Training Group Commander Marty Destazio said,” What it means to those in uniform today to know that your community, your town has your back, to know that they are committed to you while you are out there, no matter what battlefield you are on and so that means a lot. There are very few countries, I think have that type of commitment, that is something very special about the United States.”
The new seat was put in place just in time for the Shuckers home opener against the Mississippi Braves on April 11th.
