Remembering Richard Kopszywa’s legacy on the coast

The body of a shrimper who disappeared on Sunday has been recovered. Richard Kopszywa’s body was found by a paddleboarder earlier this morning near Deer Island. Kopszywa was inducted into the Maritime Industry and Seafood Museum’s Hall of Fame as a captain. He also operated the oldest known Biloxi Lugger, that ship also being inducted into the Hall of Fame….

The body of a shrimper who disappeared on Sunday has been recovered. Richard Kopszywa of Biloxi was found by a paddleboarder earlier this morning near Deer Island. The coroner confirmed the identity, noting that there were no signs of obvious trauma. An investigation into the cause of death is ongoing.
