Port City FC Playoff preview
After a dominating regular season performance in the Gulf Coast Premier League, Port City FC is less than 24 hours away from one of the biggest adult soccer games ever played on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Tomorrow night, the two-seed Sounders will play host to three-seed Motagua out of New Orleans in a GCPL semi-final matchup. Not only does the winner advance to the championship game, but that team also locks up an automatic bid for the national tournament.
Head Coach Henrik Madsen says the level of competition is second to none. “This is what, it’s exciting to have a semi-final played, especially with the level of players that we can present and the level of players that Motagua is bringing. And they’ve got professional players, former professional players coming. So it’s going to be a really, really good game I think.”
Tomorrow’s fixture will take place at Gulfport’s Herbert Wilson Stadium at 7 p.m. The Sounders were 8-1-1 in the regular season.
