Popps Lamey Convenience Store robbery

Four suspects are in custody after an early morning robbery turned shooting at a D’Iberville convenience store.

Police officials tell News 25 four suspects tried to rob the Popps Lamey Convenience Store around 6 a.m.  When the suspects fled the store, the owner fired shots at the masked intruders and one suspect was hit.

All four of the suspects then took off in a car and were apprehended by police near the Biloxi High School softball fields on Brodie Road.

Investigators say a citizen who was on their way to work was the one who noticed the issue and notified authorities. D’Iberville Chief of Police Wayne Payne said, “They were riding by when they saw something pull up in here. The old saying ‘you see something, you say something’ and we are certainly very appreciative that this local citizen saw something that was suspicious, took the time to call and report that.”

The extent of the injuries of the one suspect who was shot are still unknown.
