Popp’s Ferry Elementary hosts socially distanced Arts Extravaganza

Teachers at Popp’s Ferry Elementary in Biloxi are making sure the creativity of their students is on full display.

Art Teacher Brandi Hoxie and Music Teacher Selina Coakley teamed up to host a drive-through arts showcase for students and their parents to view their work from the entire school year.

The event featured colorful lights, video displays of student musical performances, and a variety of paintings and drawings to celebrate different cultures across the globe.

The teachers say with many changes at school due to the pandemic, it’s good to be able to host a safe family event. “There have been no extracurricular outside activities here at school due to the pandemic. So, we had to think outside of the box and we’re basically bringing a free family event to the students and families here.”

The two teachers say they will continue to find creative and socially distant ways to reach out to kids and families for the rest of the school year.
