Poplarville man dies in head-on crash on Highway 53 in Pearl River County

A Poplarville man died Wednesday in a head-on collision on Highway 53 in Pearl River County.

Mississippi Highway Patrol said 42-year-old Justin Odom was traveling south on Highway 53 when he collided with 24-year-old Markesha Harries of Houston, Texas, who was traveling north. The crash happened about 6 p.m. near Hubert Ladner Road. Harries’ injuries were not life-threatening.

Odom received fatal injuries in the crash and was dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by MHP.
