Poplarville Four-Star Running Back Ty Keys named Mr. Football for Class 4A!

The highest individual honor a high school football player can receive was announced on Friday, and the coast is home to not one, but two of the best players in the state! We’re starting things off with Mr. Football for Class 4A, Poplarville’s Junior running back, Ty Keys!

Ty “Showtime” Keys is a 6’1” 200 pound running back for the Poplarville Hornets. Before their postseason began, the four-star led the entire state in rushing yards with over 2,050 yards through nine games recorded. Throughout 28 varsity games, he possesses over 3,800 rushing yards throughout his high school career.

One of his most notable achievements was last December where he was named the Most Valuable Player in Poplarville’s first ever State Championship win. He carried the ball 23 times for 130 yards along with a 83 yard kick return for a touchdown.

Keys hasn’t yet announced where he’ll be taking his talents post graduation in 2027, but he can go just about anywhere he wants, currently sitting at 22 offers and counting.

Congratulations to Mr. Football for class 4A, Poplarville running back Ty Keys!
