Poplarville football’s Khalid Moore signs with Mississippi State
Rounding out the D1 signees out of high school here on the Coast, Poplarville outside linebacker Khalid Moore signing with Mississippi State.
Moore capped off his varsity career as the 4A defensive player of the year, having racked up 274 tackles and 24 sacks to go along with 11 passes defensed and three blocked punts during his time on varsity and never finished any worse than South State runners up.
On Saturday, the three-star recruit even picked off the Yellowhammer State in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game.
While Starkville might be his next stop, Moore says he’ll always be a Hornet at heart. “Man, some great moments in this gym. Down there on that field, getting sacks. Just homecoming parade – just everything! It was just a great memory. It’s just high school, you know? There’s nothing like it, no matter where you go. I’m a miss it, but everything must come to an end. I hope other kids up under me, they realize that it does take hard work and dedication to get where you want to go. And I hope I left a good example of that.”
Moore sees himself as a pass rusher on the Dawgs defense, but says he’s also gonna be learning how to drop in man coverage.
