Poplarville dominates Forrest County AHS, 49-20, to advance to second round of MHSAA Class 4A playoffs
BROOKLYN, Miss. (WXXV) — Poplarville entered the 2025 MHSAA Class 4A playoffs on a quest for back-to-back state titles, and the Hornets started that journey on the right foot with a dominant 49-20 win over Forrest County AHS in Friday’s first round.
Ty Keys earned 4A Mr. Football honors earlier in the day, and he showed out against the Aggies defense. The junior scored the first touchdown of the night for the Hornets, and the team never looked back.
Although Forrest County AHS cut things close in the second quarter — scoring on a long pass to make it a 20-14 game at halftime — Poplarville wasted no time in pulling away for good. Keys added three more touchdowns in the second half to put the game out of reach.
Up next, the Hornets will take on the Forest Bearcats in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs. Kickoff is set for next Friday.
