Police investigating who stole Ocean Springs mayor’s signs
Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran says she hopes police can find out who stole over 50 of her campaign signs over the weekend.
Mayor Moran tells News 25 signs were taken from along Washington Avenue and to the west all throughout the city. Each sign was four dollars each, costing her campaign over $200.
In a Facebook post, Moran wrote that her “opponent’s petty thieves” were behind the stunt. She tells News 25 signs were taken from her own street, her own yard, and her mother’s yard, all over night. “It was a concerted effort. I don’t think this was just bratty kids doing it for fun. I know it was late at night, probably before midnight when the storm came. It’s under investigation right now and I just urge all of the candidates to play fair, let’s have our debate, get our experience out there and run our campaign as adults.”
Mayor Moran tells News 25 whoever took the signs will have to answer to police for both stealing and trespassing.
